Weight loss appears to be such a common theme when it comes to the reason people want to eat well. Trying to lose weight has proven to be a tough ride for many people, and no matter your size, age, medications or any additional factors that influence your ability to lose weight there are a few key points which I have found have always had a positive impact on weight loss.

A few key tips I would like to suggest to get you on your way (straight forward, yes, however they are often missed):

1. Watch your portion sizes- often the portion on our plate is much larger than the recommended serve size. Check the Dietary Guidelines for Australian Adults to see the recommended serve size for the different food groups.
2. Make sure you base your meals around low glycaemic index and high protein foods – these are known to help with satiety. For further information on GI– check out www.glycemicindex.com
3. Fill ½ your plate at each meal with non starchy vegetables e.g. lettuce, tomato, cucumber, broccoli, cauliflower or mushrooms.
4. Create a supportive environment- could be a friend, partner, family member, work colleague, dietitian, personal trainer, or anyone you think that will help you stay on track!
5. Set yourself goals around changing behaviours rather than outcomes e.g. do not just say you plan to lose 5 kg this month, but rather you will start walking for 30 minutes 4 times a week for the next 2 weeks (and then set yourself a tougher goal once you achieve this!)

I would encourage you to put these 5 points into practice, come to our website and read through the many articles that are posted around nutrition,  the psychology of eating and weight management, and maybe even put yourself on your own 100 day challenge with the Goodness Superfoods range like the other 100 peoples stories you are able to follow here on the site to see if you to can change your life for the better.
